a quickie

I'm in VT being thoroughly oriented at the Vermont College residency in Writing for Children and Young Adults (they need a quicker title I think!). Got here yesterday. I have a nice roommate, had lunch with various faculty members. They know their stuff. It's cool. I was with Louise Hawes (whom I met yesterday - we were on the same bus up), Sharon Darrow (one of my workshop leaders this week), Margaret Bechard, Marc Aronson and Marion Dane Bauer. But in a strange way, it's like summer camp.

Read the new Harry Potter book yesterday on my way up. #7 please! That's the frustrating thing - I read the book as soon as I get it and want the next and have to wait another couple years. I like Harry better in this book - he's more like the old Harry, not so angsty. And as JK Rowling promised, there's tons of snogging. My roommate asked if there was particular snogging. No. Everyone snogs everyone else. Fanfic writers and roleplayers will have a blast.

Comments

I'm about halfway through the book. Enjoying most of the snogging so far :)
*grin* Yeah, my next door neighbor right now said she's much more interested in the snogging than the battle against Voldemort and feels a bit wrong for that *grin*
The snogging doesn't sound very kid friendly!?
JKR always said that as the characters grow up, so will their situations. She never intended to write a "children's series" just a story that she had in her head. They're 16. They're dealing with those kinds of issues. At least it's just snogging - harmless and really funny, actually.
